Frauds impersonating well-known brands

Messages that seem trustworthy, but are hiding a scam.

When a brand name becomes the perfect bait.

Fraudsters are increasingly using the name or the image of well-known stores, companies, or brands to gain consumers’ trust. The goal: to get personal data, banking information, or payments for products that will never be delivered.

Even if the message seems trustworthy, it’s essential to examine every detail and be wary of unverified communications.

How do commercial frauds work?

0
The first contact

It arrives via email, SMS, or even through social media.
The message involves a purchase, contest, exclusive offer or pending delivery.

1
The visual identity looks authentic

The message design mimics the brand’s logos, colours, and typical layout. Everything is designed to build trust.

2
A link or attachment is included

Clicking it redirects the victim to a fake website that requests personal or banking information, or even a payment.

3
The result

The details are captured by scammers to make unauthorised charges, steal identities, or continue scamming through new campaigns.

Warning signs for this type of scam

You receive the message without having made a purchase or prior request.

The offer seems too good to be true.

The link leads to a website that is not the official website of the retailer.

Do you think you may have been a victim of a scam?

Scams are often disguised as emergencies or threats. Be especially wary of any urgent requests for details or payments.

Keep calm, use your common sense, and if you think you might be a victim of fraud, get in touch with CaixaBank immediately through the official channels: Wall or by calling 938 87 25 25.
